I’m Matt Nattrass, Building Surveyor and Director of Carrington Surveys. I’m a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), AssocRICS, and also hold an MSc in Building Surveying. I founded the business in 2025 in response to new legislation and a growing need for clear, timely, and actionable reports.

Having worked with housing providers for many years, I saw first-hand how poorly written reports and the absence of SOR coding caused costly delays. I wanted to provide a service that solved these issues — delivering clarity, accuracy, and efficiency every time.

A core principle of our work is to avoid over-engineering solutions. We focus on identifying the root cause of an issue and recommending only the works necessary to resolve it. This approach saves our clients time, reduces costs, and ensures resources are directed where they are genuinely needed. We are fully independent, with no commercial links to contractors or suppliers — our advice is based solely on what’s right for each property.

I am fully compliant with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and have been instructed on numerous occasions by the court to prepare expert witness reports. We comply fully with UK GDPR, ensuring all client and tenant information is handled securely, confidentially, and only for its intended purpose.
